The Kindness Community Market

As an initiative of the Belfast Soup Kitchen, the Kindness Community Market is a welcoming food pantry committed to ending hunger in our community.

We proudly serve everyone, upholding dignity, choice, and accessibility. Through partnerships with local farms, businesses, and hunger relief organizations, we offer a diverse selection of fresh produce, dairy, proteins, and non-perishable goods.

Providing both short-term assistance and ongoing support, the Kindness Community Market helps to ensure healthy food access for all. Visit us and find a compassionate, judgment-free shopping environment where kindness and community lead the way.

What to expect when you visit

The Kindness Community Market provides a three-day food supplement for your household following federal guidelines. The Market is available to guests who live in Waldo County, and guests are welcome to shop with us once a week.

Your First Visit:

  • Check-In: When you arrive, a friendly team member will greet you and ask for your name.

  • Paperwork: If it’s your first time shopping with us, we will complete the brief TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) form with you. We will collect your name, contact information, household size, and household relationships so we can best serve your family.

  • Shopping: Once checked in, guests are welcome to shop the Marketplace for a three-day food supplement.
